Criminal thinking pattern - a law breaking actionsCriminals have some thought about the crimes which they are going to commit and made an analysis if their crime is either based upon the potential rewards or risks. Criminals reveal  patterns of thinking that are changed from those of non criminals. Thinking patterns actually describe criminal behavior.

They commit crimes due to one-sided or biased thinking. Criminal thinkers do not think them a bad person. Criminal thinking patterns are of eight different types which includes mollification: tendency to rationalize conducts by employing blame on external factors, cutoff: quickly stop evaluating thoughts that deter from crime,

Entitlement: permitting criminal behavior by a special advantaged self-acknowledgement, power orientation: the requirement for greatest control over the situation, sentimentality: doing good to balance undesirable feelings about behavior of someone, super optimism: Having a assurance in capability of one’s to avoid the undesirable consequence of crime, cognitive indolence:

Mental short cuts are used as an alternative of using more advanced and considerate mental approaches, discontinuity: absence of determination and consistency in actions and thinking. According to thinking patterns it is represented that criminal thought allow choices that are self-permissive, rash, interpersonal offensive, and divergent to common standards.

The thinking patterns of criminals are irrationally based, unorganized, particular and assist the requirements for instant satisfaction. Criminal thinkers have negative expression about social values, institutions, rules and regulations. They even think negative about behavioral self management, problem solving ability, one’s self ability to achieve conventional means.

Criminal thinkers have lack of empathy and sensitivity toward other persons. Thinking patterns of criminals depend on the family influence and their own views about crime. Thinking patterns are supposed to effect how the person views himself and existence and how he responds in varied conditions. They commit crime due to disregard to the feelings of others, faulty social cognition.

Criminal thinking patterns are dependent on the family history and environment of person  the complication and hetero genetic factors lead to  the appearance of  cognitive  alterations. Factors which determine the personality of the minor and psychosocial functioning of mothers contribute to the thinking patterns of criminals. Both external and internal factors become the reason of different criminal thinking patterns.

According to a research, it is found that criminal thoughts and criminal behaviors are due to some genes. These genes are inherited, so there is always an association between criminal thoughts and inherited traits which leads to the antisocial behavior and aggression. Not only biological factors influence the criminal thinking patterns but environmental factors also has an impact on thinking.

These environmental factor includes lack of opportunity and unemployment. Social structure, brain structure, population density , internalized behaviors are also the leading causes of criminal thoughts. Antisocial behavior of individual and juvenile associates the criminal thinking patterns.

Pattern of criminal thinking found among sex offenders, white-collar offenders, male and female offenders, juvenile or young offenders  and most recently college students is unique either they have criminal or non criminal behavior. Criminal Thinking style may facilitate some environmental influences including poverty, peers, and parenting.

Criminal thinking patterns can be predictive of treatment adherence reconviction , and disciplinary infractions in prison populations. Criminal thinking patterns offer a means of quantifying change in thinking that are related to meaningful behavior change. Rational thinkers become offenders, severe punishments are given to prevent crimes.

Two-factor model including lack of thoughtfulness and other willful criminality represent the criminal thinking pattern. Criminal thinking have focused excitement, thrills, immediate gratification, less ability to tolerate, denies judgment and power hungry. Any person who has irresponsible and criminal thoughts or has guilty of criminal thinking is described as a criminal.

Actually the base of criminal behavior is criminal thinking. Criminal thinking pattern is influenced by parental factor, attributions of intent and self reported delinquency. There are certain errors in criminal thinking patterns. They have distorted self image and deny any responsibility for their deeds.

They view themselves as a victim but in some cases they even blame social environment and other people. They thought themselves as a good person, only focuses on positive aspects and build self up at the expense of other people. They only think on a certain perspective and are not self critical mean they have closed channel thinking. They have no thought related to ownership and others right.

They take decision on the assumptions of their thoughts and not on the facts and always think that others would act immediately on their demands. They have no sense about obligation.

These errors are described as criminal thinking and they are present in us to a some extent but these errors are taken to the extreme by the offenders so they then turn into the criminal patterns of thinking and behavior which leads offender to harm and victimize other.

The errors in thinking are not exceptional to criminals, but were suggested to be displayed more by criminals than law behaving citizens. Criminals have attempted thinking errors which make them what they are.

Hard-core criminals are trapped in a vicious circle of their own thinking. Individuals with criminal thinking and antisocial personality mostly have pre-frontal cortex which is not full developed.

This chemistry of pre-frontal cortex and limbic areas in the brain become change due to criminal thinking. This premature development will have an effect on the decision power, observing power, regulation of emotions, impulsivity and social movement.

When a counselor introduces facts for the analysis of the criminal thinking and decision power he found that illogical nature and contradictions are produced by the criminal thoughts. The offender then tries to protect his thought patterns and is pushing to find ways to live a life that is needed and he will think more like a non-criminal.

Thinking errors in criminals should be identified so as to treat the cognition errors in the criminals. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been proven to be one of the most operative approaches for measurable and evocative outcomes with the offender population.
