STAFF REPORT RWP: Women Research and Resource Center (WRRC), Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), has organized the book launching of Prof. Dr. Iftikhar-un-Nisa Hassan titled “Women Education: Policies and Programmes 1970-2010”.

Prof. Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani, Chairman Gallup Pakistan, was the chief guest while guests of honor were Dr. Saba Gul Khattak, Senior Gender Specialist World Bank and Farman Ullah Anjum, Director General Human Resource Management, HEC.

Reviewers of the book were Dr. Rukhsana Hassan, Incharage Gender Studies Department FJWU, and Dr. Maryam Rab, Director Research, Evaluation and Monitoring, British Council.

In her welcome remarks, Dr. Humaira Ahmed, Director WRRC, highlighted the background, objectives and functions of WRRC. She congratulated Dr. I.N.Hassan on writing such an excellent book.

Talking about the book Professor Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani said its a door opener book for me. The book shows the compassion and commitment of ther writer with her work.

Khattak said that the good thing about the book is that it not only highlighted issues and problems being faced by women in getting education but also provides their solutions. The book highlights the imperfection of our education system and talks about issues of rural and urban areas. Another reviewer Dr. Rukhsana Hassan said the book provides analysis of women education in Pakistan and the initiatives taken by the government and public sector in various decades.
