The Pakistan government takes back the charge of chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) from Dr. Umar Saif and likely to be placed the Planning and Development (P&D) Chairman Habibur Rehman Gilani.
Dr. Saif has leaded a number of projects such as Plan9, PlanX and Tech Hubb Connect at the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
Dr Saif is a former faculty member at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
Dr. Umar saif had wide-ranging experience in academia, management, consulting and entrepreneurship in the IT sector; he served the board to play a key role in digitalizing the police department, land record and other departments of the Punjab government.
Dr. Saif served 5 consecutive governments and established two institutions: Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), which became the main modification locomotive for the government with over 300 projects in Punjab and other provinces.
Information Technology University (ITU), which in just 5 years, became one of the leading technology universities of Pakistan with close to 100 PhD faculty members only with the keen efforts of DR. Umar Saif.
Dr. Umar Saif a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology would continue his responsibilities as Vice-Chancellor of the Lahore Information Technology University (ITU) and bow out as PITB Chairman.
Dr. Saif recently launched E-Learn application, Smartphone/Tablet based android app to help educate students and teachers as a part of The Digital Punjab.

Dr. Saif other achievements included being named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010, a Google Faculty Research Award and the MIT Technovator Award for his work on grassroots technologies.
