STAFF REPORT ISB: Though, according to PTA data, 3G/4G subscribers have reached 9.07 million, yet the excitement of many users seems fading away due to higher prices and slowing speed.

Last year, Pakistan entered the club of few countries of the world, where 3rd and 4th generation high speed data services in telecom sector were launched. Presently almost all of the service providers are offering high-speed internet services under different marketing strategies.

According to experts 4G phones are supposed to be even faster, but thats not always the case. There are so many technologies and so many ways to implement them, that the term is almost meaningless.

“I have been using 4G services since two months, first the speed was amazing, but with the passage of time, it is like slowing down, coverage is also an issue, sometimes the signals drop especially during travel,” said Khurshid Shah, a resident Islamabad. However, he said that the new services were still far better than the previous technology, in terms of internet downloading speed. The experts believe with the passage of time, the 3G/4G services would further improve and their prices would also become affordable.
