For the very first time in Pakistan the development of “Biomass Cluster” going to set up for the sustainable development as inked  between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

For the first time 'Biomass Cluster' to set up in PakistanThe inaugural meeting for the development of first ever biomass cluster in Pakistan held at the US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) under the banner of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) programme for promoting sustainable energy production and the use of biomass in Pakistan.

Keeping in line, Biomass utilization becomes the need of time for Pakistan as the environmental and energy security concerns are increased and for efficient utilization of biomass resources in the future, it is important to put on knowledge of current energy systems by setting up at prevalent platforms.

The ultimate purpose of the development was to endorse market-based acceptance of modern biomass energy conversion technologies for power generation in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and rural areas in Pakistan.

Turning to alternative energy resources, the biomass cluster concept is a common economic solution and effective step towards producing energy in rural areas of Pakistan while keeping balance with the environment.
