Galaxy Rice event held in Gujranwala Punjab organised by Corteva Agrisciences Pakistan along with Rafhan Maize Products, USA & Punjab Agriculture Department and of total 3000 farmers participated in the event.
The even major theme is to evaluate the possibility of diversifying cropping pattern in core basmati rice area where yield of wheat is low as compared to rest of Punjab mainly due to mono-cropping pattern.
The great event gathers diverse farmers with experts and academia, the ultimate aim of galaxy rice is to improve agricultural and social economic conditions of the country.
It was concluded in the event by experts that Maize-Rice cropping pattern has great potential to explore and prospectus to increase farm income as compared to wheat rice cropping pattern.
It has potential to address major problems of wheat rice pattern viz diversification, sustainability, soil health, low yield of wheat crop after rice , impact of climate change .
