STAFF REPORT LHR: The government has reiterated his commitment to expediting work on the Pakistan Halal Product Development Board in order to enhance Halal.
“Certain technical issues have led to delays in issuing a notification for the establishment of the board but I have directed the additional secretary of the science and technology ministry to meet members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sort it out,” Science and Technology Minister Mir Changez Khan Jamali said while reiterating his governments commitment to expediting work on the Pakistan Halal Product Development Board, during his visit to the LCCI here last week.
The minister said the Board is being set up to regulate the halal foods in the country and set the path to significantly increase the halal foods exports.
He mentioned that Pakistan has a great potential in the livestock sector and if proper policy is implemented regarding strengthening the halal meat sector, it would play a significant role in boosting the halal meat exports especially to majority of the countries.
