STAFF REPORT TAXILA: Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) Chief Lt General Wajid Hussain has urged strong linkages between the academia and industry as it would lay a strong foundation for the latest research culture He said this while talking at the second open house recently held at the Heavy Industries Taxila Education City (Hitec) University.The open house is also aimed at enlightening the industry representatives, academics and government officials about Hitec Universitys research potential.

General Wajid said that the economy of the country is growing and in this situation students dynamic potential could play a key role in meeting different challenges.

He said with the provision of better research and development (RandD) facilities, the university will be made a centre of excellence in the field of defence and the management of HIT will provide all possible resources.

The HIT chief said that active participation of the students with unique and innovative ideas in the university open house is a proof of the fact the students of the institute have a lot of potential.

Hitec University VC Brig Qammar Zaman said that such events play a pivotal role in bridging industry and students together.He added that such events hold a special significance for RandD organisations and people from the industry, as they get a chance to analyse the students skills in problem solving.
