STAFF REPORT LHR: Huawei Technologies Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. has signed an agreement to supply equipment to Wateen and Qubee for upgrading their existing infrastructure to support high speed 4G broadband in Pakistan. Earlier in December 2013, the latter two companies had announced their intentions to consolidate wireless broadband operations in Pakistan.

The state-of-the-art equipment provided by Huawei will significantly improve the coverage and capacities of the existing networks of Wateen and Qubee to 20 fold, enabling customers to get speeds effectively up to 20 Mbps.

The Network has been designed and dimensioned to provide not only retail but wholesale high speed capacities and support plug and play solutions to consumers, as well as Corporate and SME customers.

The fixed broad band network will improve the broadband service offering in the country to the next level and enable the proposed joint operations to provide high speed broadband services at affordable prices. The Network upgrade is targeted to get completed by May 2014.
