MONITORING REPORT: Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has announced the Science and Technology Award among more than three billion Muslim population of 57 OIC countries to the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad by recognizing its meritorious and acclaimed services in the field of science and technology in the Islamic world, says a press release.
In a letter by ISB President Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali to UAF VC Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan, he congratulated the university leadership and faculty on the occasion of this accomplishment. The letter said that Selection Committee of 10th Edition of IDB Prizes for Science and Technology has decided the prize for science and technology in the category “institutions having achieved outstanding contribution to a given scientific discipline” to the UAF.
According to him, the prize which consists of a cash award of $100,000, a trophy and a certificate shall be presented to the winner by the Chairman of the IDB Board of Governors, in a special ceremony to be held in Khartoum, Sudan, in March.
The IDB president said that during the last four years, UAF took tangible steps in introducing new degree programmes, setting up a community college at PARS, initiation of new institutes, research projects, impact factor publications and high volume of UAF citations.
