STAFF REPORT, JAMSHORO, Sindh: Students are our bright future and they should take more participation in international conferences, seminars and workshops of their relevant fields as it would play a significant role in shining their capabilities and increasing knowledge in addition to grooming a professional leading future generation. The UET Mehran has always played a leading role in this regard and proved its superiority on the national scale in terms of emerging as the centre of excellence.


Renowned scholars and experts expressed these views while addressing a recently held three-day International Multi TopIc Conference (IMTIC13) at the MUET Campus Jamshoro, Sindh. The event was organized by the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), in technical collaboration with Erasmus Mundus Strong-ties programme.


In his welcome address. Prof. BS Chowdhry, Dean and chief organizer of the event, said that IMTIC has become a premier international forum for researchers to exchange information regarding novel aspects of technology, application and service development within the multidisciplinary fields of ICTs.


As many as 28 presentations from researchers from over a dozen countries in addition to 16 invited keynote speakers from USA, Japan, Ireland, France, Qatar, Malaysia, England, Denmark and Canada shared their researches on “ICTs, Information Security and Sustainable Development”.


Prof. Dr. MA Uqaili, VC MUET, said that following the distinctive success of IMTIC 08 and IMTIC 12 this year IMTIC has attracted even a higher number of authors, key note speakers and participants all around world and within the country.


He further said that the IMTIC 13 aimed to bring together a wide spectrum of international experts to facilitate a creative environment for the promotion of collaboration and knowledge transfer.


Furthermore, he said that MUET is striving hard in research and academic excellence and managed to mark its rank in worlds top 400 engineering and technology universities in QS ranking of 2010.


In addition, the event also marked the golden jubilee celebrations of the institute and revealed about establishment of Alumni Development Archive (ADA).


Sindh Senior Education Minister Nisar Khoro, who inaugurated the event, said in his address that today whatever the MUET has achieved is due to the efforts, hardwork and contribution of faculty members and leadership.


On this memorable occasion, Prof. Dr. Tahir Riaz who came all the way from Aalborg University announced that Aalborg University which is famous for its well-known “Centre for Telecommunication Infrastructure” in Denmark, Japan, USA, Italy and India has agreed to establish CTIF-South East Asia Regional Centre at MUET for countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Main purpose of this initiative is to facilitate global research and educational activities, he explained.


Then there was panel discussion on “Survival of Nations in Technology and Education” wherein Prof. Elfed Lewis from University of Limerick lso participated.


During the panel discussion, Dr. BS Chowdhary also said that education is an important asset for any nation to preserve its integrity and development.


Moreover, Azhar Dilshad from Hamdard University Karachi won the Award for his technical presentation on Brain-Computer Interface in Ph.D symposium.


Prof. Dr. Elfred Lewis from University of Limerick, in his technical presentation put light on the research carrying on critically on Bio-Medical Technology and Optical Fiber Sensor, Hemoglobin Measurement, Bio medical pressure measurement and radiation measurement were the main topics concealed during his presentation.
