STAFF REPORT ISB: A business seminar mutually organized by the Trade Wing of the Embassy, Saffron Group, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and Japan Pakistan Business Cooperation Committee, has recently been held at the Embassy of Pakistan.


According to the estimates of Pakistan Software Association, this was the first effort made by the Embassy of Pakistan in consort with its private sector cohorts for sponsoring Pakistans IT industry which is anticipated to have its export earnings above $10-billion during the next five years.


Ambassador Farukh Amil in his key-note discourse highlighted the progressive and significant developments taking place in Pakistan to entice foreign investment.


He also informed that Pakistans economy was predominantly an agricultural one. However, labor costs are very reasonable when compared with other developed and developing countries.


The ambassador emphasized that Japanese businessmen should assess the vast potential of Pakistan with a history of nil labor disagreements with Japanese corporations in addition to its well-organized and motivated workers.


Karou Shraishi, Director General JETRO, underlined the huge market size, skilled youth population, ease of doing business and investment prospects in various sectors with special focus on IT sector in Pakistan. He emphasized the concern of the Japanese companies and valued the generosity of Pakistanis towards the Japanese.


Shingo Shinozaki of Saffron Group added that the Government of Pakistan was taking various steps to fascinate investors from abroad and stressed the Japanese companies to personally visit before making any decision.
