Intelligent transportation system set up at expressway

For the first ever in the country, an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) initiate by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to alleviate the disturbing transportation issues.

Intelligent transportation system set up at expressway

The Intelligent transportation system (ITS) would firstly be introduced at Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Rawat. Traffic on Islamabad Expressway signal free corridor would control particularly at different intersections through this transportation system.

Under this project, CCTV surveillance system comprising upon static and Pan-Tilt & Zoom (PTZ) cameras would be installed after every three kilometers (3Km) with the coverage of 500 meters.

A Traffic Control Center (TCC) would be established. The TCC connected with field devices would be equipped with backlight LED Video wall screens, video wall controller, video storage and core network switch.

The intelligent transportation aimed to perk up road safety and reduce impact of jamming as it will provide up-to-the-minute information regarding incident management, driver information, intended distraction and road work on the Expressway.

An intelligent transportation system (ITS) aimed to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and traffic management and enable Pakistani users to be better informed and make safer, more coordinated, and ‘smarter’ use of efficient transport.
