John Hoover, US Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) to Pakistan has inaugurated the International Conference on Sustainable Energy Technologies.

U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy(USPCAS-E) organized two-day conference. United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project implemented in collaboration with University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar.

In this conference energy professionals and policymakers from academia, government, electric power companies, and manufacturing industries had met to share ideas and exchange information associated with sustainable energy technologies.

DCM Hoover said at the ceremony, “Our association with Higher Education Commission and University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar to advance higher education that educated Pakistani employees can address challenges and opportunities in Pakistan and across the world.”

Sartaj Aziz, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission of Pakistan emphasized to include academia in generating sustainable solutions to energy crisis. He has also appreciation U.S. Government to support the setting up of Centers for Advanced Studies.

The USAID-funded USPCAS-E is a joint initiative between the National University of Science and Technology, UET Peshawar, and Arizona State University that had focused on building expertise in research to encounter energy needs of Pakistan. U.S.-Pakistan Centers for Advanced Studies program with USAID’s $127 million support 100 graduate students and faculty members from USPCAS-E (UET Peshawar) to conduct applied research on energy at Arizona State University by 2019. The partnership has also developed syllabuses, set up new laboratories at National University of Science and Technology and UET Peshawar, and introduced exchange programs.
