IRENA to support Pak renewable energy projects

STAFF REPORT IBD: International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA-UNO) will include Pakistan in its next years Annual Work Plan, bringing benefits to Pakistan in terms of training and capacity building of its renewable energy departments, which will also attract foreign investment in the countrys renewable energy projects.
This was disclosed at a meeting between Pakistans Ambassador to UAE Jamil Ahmed Khan and IRENA officials held in Abu Dhabi last week to discuss IRENA assistance to Pakistan, says a press release received here.
The IRENA-UNO delegation briefed the ambassador about the IRENAs Asia and Pacific plan in terms of finding out an effective mechanism to collaborate with the regional countries in carrying out the need assessment and provide them with necessary policy advice and technological assistance.
The Ambassador apprised the delegation about the vast renewable energy potential of Pakistan and expressed desire of the government of Pakistan to enhance adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy including solar and wind energy.
He sought IRENAs assistance in linking up the world business community and the donors with renewable energy projects of Pakistan. He also invited IRENA to visit Pakistan and carry out Renewable Readiness Assessment (RRA) of the country.
