STAFF REPORT IBD: The Pakistan Science Museum will be established at Shakarparian for the promotion of basic and fundamental research which may help in socio-economic development of the country.


“The summary for approval of this project has been submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology, while allocation of land by Capital Development Authority (CDA) is under process,” said an official.

Besides, establishment of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) science centre and a museum at University of Karachi is also in the pipeline, he said.

According to the official, establishment of five centres in different cities is also on the top of the PSF list. The PSF will sign MoU with the University of Rome, National Science Foundation (NSF), Turkish Academy of Sciences, Sri Lanka and ECO-Institute of Environmental SandT (ECO-IEST), Iran for scientific and technological collaboration.

“Plans for establishment of Science and Technology parks with technical assistance from Iranian institutes as well as scientific research have also been planned for achieving economic prosperity,” said the official.

He said that the PC-1 for establishment of PSF science centres and museum at university of Karachi and Balochistan are under preparation.

He informed that around 15 collaborative proposals with counterpart organisations in Turkey, Argentina, European Union, Uzbekistan, Mexico and Russia have been submitted to the ministry for approval.
