IST in collaboration with National Space Agency of Pakistan (SUPARCO) has launched 4-day activity-based programme to celebrate WSW

Besides also enlightening general public about WSW it would also create space awareness among students representing different schools and colleges of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Qaiser Anees Khurram SUPARCO Chairman was the chief guest of inaugural ceremony of WSW. He highly praised the efforts of IST for fashioning awareness about space technology among the youth and educating students regarding benefits of space technology.

WSW is celebrated following the United Nations (UN) General Assembly declaration of 1999. The suggestion came from Third UN Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNISPACE III) to celebrate WSW. Pakistan is trying to enter the realm of space science and technology.

“Exploring New Worlds in Space” was the theme of WSW this year. Theme would empower people to discuss and debates about the topics vacillating from space exploration to mission to Mars and far more than that. The week is celebrations aimed to encourage educators to set of connections towards the exciting space exploration events at schools, universities, science centers, astronomy clubs, and even museums.
