Biodiversity conservation is an essential component; keeping in line timely need the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Pakistan formally launched its project titled “Assessment of the State of Nature and Biodiversity Safeguarding Actions in Northern Pakistan”.
The worthy assessment project was initiated in collaboration with the allied departments, private sector and local communities at Forest Complex, Gilgit-Baltistan Forest, Wildlife and Environment Department (GBFWED).
The timely needed project initiated by IUCN Pakistan aimed to perk up the infrastructural development for the conservation and management of flimsy natural resources of the concerned area.
Secretary Forest, Wildlife and Environment, GB Shahid Zaman , Country Representative IUCN Pakistan Mahmood Akthar Cheema, IUCN, Senior Biodiversity Expert, Javed Ahmed Chaudhary, Deputy Director Biodiversity, Ministry of Climate Change Dr Rizwan Irshad , Chief Conservator Forest, GB Dr Zakir Hussain chaired the occasion.
Above all representator stressed the importance of such initiative that was designed in collaboration by IUCN and MoCC to augment the nature and biodiversity in northern regime.
Pakistan is rich in biodiversity and a signatory to many international initiatives and is making intensive efforts to conserve its biodiversity in all ecological regions.
To achieve the biodiversity conservation goal all the stakeholders including the government agencies, local communities and NGOs work together as partners to conserve the biodiversity.
