Staff report HYD: Consul General of Japan in Karachi Akira Ouchi has said that the government of Japan is fully encouraging the Pakistani students to get scholarships for their academic and research activities in subjects of various fields of life with objective to move their homeland for rapid progress and prosperity.


He expressed these remarks at a meeting with the students during his recent visit to the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro.


He informed that the government of Japan had started scholarship programme in Pakistan in 1964 under which, ten male and female students could get scholarships while two scholarships were also available for teachers under Teachers Training Programme.


He said that no nation could achieve the targets of development without education, therefore, the Pakistan students should make sincere efforts for getting higher level academic and research activities for the betterment of their country.


Earlier, Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ghous Bux Khaskheli welcomed the Consul General and highlighted the research and academic activities of the university.
