The Green Karachi initiative is planting eco-friendly trees keeping in line the first urban forest of Sindh province will be built in Karachi near the Malir rivulet and railway line to counteract the unpleasant effects of climate change and pollution.

As part of this Sindh Minister for Works and Services, Forest and Wildlife Syed Nasir Hussain Shah talk about the sustainable forest management policy 2019, annual development programme, and to follow the orders of the Supreme and High Courts.

Syed Nasir Hussain directed the concerned authorities to cog up before the forthcoming spring season and also asked the officers to contact the pertinent NGOs.

In this regard, short- and long-term planning should be devised for the improvement and protection of forests of the province. Urban forestry initiate at divisional and district levels.

Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah recalled that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Syed Murad Ali Shah Sindh Chief Minister deliberately concerned in the development of forests and tree plantation in the province, and had issued directives in this regard.

Secretary forest briefed the meeting about the sustainable forest management policy 2019 saying that after various counseling workshops, seminars, meetings and consulting with all the relevant stakeholders a draft in this regard will be presented next week.
