STAFF REPORT KHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has proposed to form a committee comprising its representatives, members of federal and provincial IT ministries, in an efforts to develop a comprehensive portal of trade to increase commerce opportunities with friendly and regional countries.
“There is an urgent need to take the maximum advantage of the ICT to explore market access of countries around the globe,” KCCI President Mian Abrar Ahmad said this while speaking at a recently held seminar “Promoting ICT Applications in Business and Industry of Pakistan” organized by KCCI and ICT RandD Fund.
He also emphasized on the ideal linkage between the industry and academia to promote entrepreneurship and encourage the youth to opt for self-employment.
The potential of skilled human resource in the rural areas particularly the artisans can be exposed to the international community by making best use of the ICT, he explained.
Sindh Secretary Information Technology Sualeh Ahmed Faruqui, in his remarks, stressed the need for formalizing the trend of ICT usage and called for regularly organizing seminars with the interaction of federal and provincial ministry of information technology.
President PASHA Jahan Ara, SEVP PTCL Furqan Habib Qureshi, CEO PIBAS S.A. Khalique, CEO Super Technologies Rehan Allahwala, CEO Nexsource Nazir Ahmed Vaid and Head of RandD Greenwich University Nawaz Ahmed participated in the panel discussion.
