KOICA Pakistan held a national workshop, annual alumni reception 2016

ISLAMABAD: Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) of the Republic of Korea
held a one-day national workshop and Annual Alumni reception in Islamabad.
On the occasion the Country Director KOICA Pakistan Mr. Sung Choon-ki in his welcoming
address said that KOICA is actively participating in socio-economic development of Pakistan
through its seven ongoing grant aid projects focused on Health, water andamp; sanitation, education,
capacity building and rural development. He emphasized on extending Koreas relationship with
Pakistan through its alum. Especially, KOICA Training Programs benefited more than 1000
officials since 1992 and this year several officials avail trainings and master scholarship, having
a significant contribution in human resources development of Pakistan.
“Koreas dramatic socio-economic development known as Miracle on Han River never came
overnight. Certainly, strong and visionary leadership, contribution by foreign labors, Saemaul
Undong (New Village Movement) and cohesion among its people, were most of the key success
factor in Koreaand#39;s path to prosperity and development. I am confident that Pakistan based on its
unique culture, history and geography with abundant natural resources, and with your leadership
support, will achieve similar miracle in the near future”, Said Mr. Sung.
“KOICA Alumni played a substantial role in the bringing the people closer and to foster the
cooperation between both countries”he added further.
The KOICA Alumni Association of Pakistan (KAAP) President Dr. Muhammad Akram Shaikh
in his opening remarks share that KAAP has regional association in all provinces, GB and AJandamp;K
playing their active role for disseminating the experiences gained in Korea and promoting
friendly ties between two countries. He said that since 2014, Pakistani officials are winning
global essay competition and excelled in training and scholarship program. The notable alumni
including Mr. Fazal-e-Nabi (Secretary Population Welfare KP/Regional President KP), Mr.
Kamran Nawaz Khan (IT Manger Science andamp; Technology), Ms. Rabia Jahangir (Social Welfare
Officer CAD) and Mr. Saqib Shakeel Abbasi (Scientific Officer NARC) shared their experiences
in Korea. They said that the KOICA Alumni will work together with a commitment to extend
and strengthen the bilateral relations between both nations. More than 100 government officials,
dignitaries and media personal witnessed the occasion.
