STAFF REPORT LHR: The Planning Commission of Pakistan has approved a mega development project of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Lahore.

The project titled “Enhancement of Research Facilities at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahores Ravi Campus, Pattoki ” will be completed in three years at a cost of Rs980 million.The project envisages development of a hi-tech Central Laboratory Complex linked with on-site research centres for quality postgraduate research in nine domains to meet industrial requirements.

The project also aimed upgradation of on-site research facilities and physical infrastructure in the departments of fisheries, wildlife, poultry, dairy and healthcare for enhancing postgraduate research capacities.

A multipurpose hall will be built for organising national/international conferences, seminars, webinars, symposia and industry trainings.

“The UVAS was in the process of building up its capacity to discharge its mandatory functions of teaching, research and technology development,” said Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha while speaking on the occasion.

UVAS Director Planning and Development Dr Afzal said that this development project would strengthen the Ravi Campus in terms of HRD, research laboratories, establishment of physical structures for new departments, upgradation of existing ancillary and support facilities to enhance the capacity of the university.
