Now adopting modern technologies is an undeniable fact in every field of life. Modern technologies can provide effective tools and methods that in turn can save the cost.

Dr. Abdul Majid, country manager International Centre for Agriculture Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) has said that Pakistan must adopt the latest technologies of farming and water so that effort, time, and money can be saved.

Pakistan has a great potential for agriculture as it has a fertile land for farming. Unfortunately, dry areas in Pakistan due to the lack of a proper mechanism of providing water are useless. Sindh is a province that is associated with such dry regions. During a recent meeting held with Agriculture Service Providers (ASPs) in Sindh, Dr. Majid emphasized on the need of the adoption of new tools, the only solution to the problems of Pakistan.

While talking with ASPs of the Jamshoro district at the U.S-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W), MUET, Dr. Majid pointed that the availability of the duplicate of the Banana Tree Shredder in the country is important. This machine can convert the residual banana to organic fertilizers that are beneficial for soil. It can also be used in crops particularly by the farmers.

Dr. Majid also told participants of the meeting that this technology will be very useful in the farming sector. Over 30% of water can be saved by using ridge sowing of wheat. The seeder with special machinery is used in the ridge sowing technology. The machine cuts the irrigation furrows and sows crops’ seeds on the ridges at the same time. Modern technology use will save water in dry areas ad it will also result in better growth of crops.
