STAFF REORT KHI: Fourth one day workshop of series “Young Researchers Skill Development” has recently been organized by the National Academy of Young Scientist (NAYS) at the Karachi University and around 350 participants attended the workshop.

Purpose of this workshop was to inculcate basic research skills and expertise in the young researchers who are novice and not well-conversant with research trends. This event was conducted in collaboration with Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Department of Biochemistry, University of Karachi.

In his remarks, PSF Chairman Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro, emphasized on the inquiry based learning system promotion contemporary to traditional educational system which spoils the creative and innovative abilities of students. PSF is funding different projects related to the promotion of scientific and technological research. He further added that industrial development process requires strong academia and industrial linkage and PSF has started few projects in this regard.

Intellectuals with excellent oratorical skills came to enlighten students with current research arena and trends and they tried to cover diverse topics of research skill development.

The targeted audience included many undergraduate and postgraduate students who were motivated to pursue a career in applied science research. Students were invited on the stage to give their remarks on the sessions.
