STAFF REPORT LHR: National Response Centre for Cyber Crimes (NR3C) of FIA is dealing with the cases related to social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google, Skype, Yahoo, etc). This is main reason that criminals involved in information stealing, blackmailing, threatening and harassing on social media escape any action.

According to a report of internet rights group “Bytes for All”, approximately 32 million of the country total 200 million population use the internet and majority of people use internet via mobile phones, about 12 million are on Facebook and some 2 million use Twitter, but so far there is no effective law in place to deal with cyber crimes.

Soon after coming to power, the government succeeded in drafting a bill called Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2014, however, the bill still has not been approved by the parliament.FIA officials say that the bill, if approved, would help a great deal to tackle with the emerging threat of cyber crimes people facing these days.
