STAFF REPORT ISB: The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the eminent Chinese University, Tsinghua University have laid foundation for establishment of state of the art National Science and Technology Park (NSTP). The project is the part of China Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) and is of critical importance that will bring an educational and scientific boom in country through bringing academia-industry closer and collaboration for the sake of promotion and advancement of SandT through different innovative programmes. The science park focus is also to promote the technopreneurship in the country through joint efforts.


A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between Engineer Muhammad Asghar, Rector NUST and Jiwu Wang, CEO Tus-Holdings Company. The agreement stated the deliberation of formation of a joint company to establish the NSTP.


Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Ahsan Iqbal was also present on the occasion. He said while addressing to participants of the ceremony, “The establishment of NSTP is a landmark step that will foster the economic cooperation and strengthen the bilateral ties through cooperation in SandT for the uplifting of country. The SandT development and promotion is the foremost need of the country and we can only stand at par to developed countries through focusing on science and technological education; this MoU will play integral part to attain these objectives and it will bore fruit in coming years.”


Prof Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Sun Weidong, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Kamran Qureshi, Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) also participated in the event.
