ISLAMABAD: Dr Fiaz Ahmad Chaudhry has taken over charge as Managing Director of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC). He was appointed by the NTDCL Board of Directors with the concurrence of the government of Pakistan on June 30.


Dr Chaudhry is an Electrical Engineer by profession with over 31 years of experience in the power sector in national and international utility/consulting industry including WAPDA, SCECO-East and Acres International/Hatch Ltd. He has BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore, IIT, Chicago and Purdue University, West Lafayette respectively. He also attended many management and technical courses from renowned institutions.


His expertise includes; corporate management, power system expansion planning, functional and technical specifications for electrical facilities, secure power system operation, project management and HVDC/FACTS.


He also has experience of working with consultants, utility boards, the government and international funding agencies for developing and implementing long-term power infrastructure projects. He managed projects around the globe including in Canada, US, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, New Caledonia, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Uganda and Pakistan.
