Open Data Pakistan is marvelous initiative for Digitalize PakistanOpen Data Pakistan is launched with collaborative effort done by the National Center for Big Data and Cloud Computing (NCBC), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and supported Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Open Data Pakistan is helping provide data to all kinds of users, such as researchers, policymakers, communities, and businesses alike.

Anyone can access, use and share data over the portal. Governments, businesses, and individuals can use open data to bring about social, economic and environmental benefits.

This data is one standardized platform that aims to create a culture of sharing data in Pakistan within every sector, public and private. A major goal is to have all data-sets of Pakistan on this portal, therefore, it is crucial for different institutions to sign up and publish data and visualizations.

This open data portal can be used as a tool to disseminate raw data and information. The portal also aims to help unlock the value of data by being able to analyze it in machine-readable and open formats.

Researchers from Lahore University of Management and Sciences. (LUMS) have developed the portal.  It is first of its kind portal in Pakistan as per the international open data standards design and publishing guidelines and worked on the draft policy for the open database of Pakistan. The first version of the Open Data Pakistan Portal is https://opendata.com.pk/

LUMS has signed an MoU with Ignite and hopefully, they will hosting through this portal.
