STAFF REPORT FAISALABAD: The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has decided to distribute free of cost wheat seed to 23,838 growers in the province. The Punjab government has allocated an amount of Rs 300 million for this programme. The balloting method will be adapted to enlist the growers who will be provided with the wheat seeds.


This was divulged by Senior Official of PAD. He said that each enlisted farmer will be provided with free 200 kilogram seed for cultivation of wheat at area of four acres. The applications will be invited from August 25 to September 30, 2015.


The wheat seed which will be provided are highly disease resistant and multiplication of the seeds will be urged from farmers after harvesting through an undertaking.
