STAFF REPORT ISB: The project for the Pak-Korea Information and Communication Technology Center has been handed over to the government of Pakistan. The government of Korea had extended a grant of $5million for this project, which will be the centre of all trainings for the promotion of IT in Pakistan.


The handing over ceremony was held at the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI), Islamabad, with the presence of IT Minister Anusha Rahman, Korean Ambassador Dr. Song Jong Hwan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Communication, Aurangzen Haque; Brigadier Rashid Ahmed, Deputy Director General FWO, Jamil Ahmed, Director CTTI, Islamabad.


In his remarks on the occasion, Dr. Song said that the world is characterized by rapid changes and IT has played a significant role in globalization. “We need a new method to help and build the capacities of the people particularly Youth. I believe that this centre will help in implementing IT trainings in an efficient way.”


He expressed the hope that the government of Pakistan will to take this opportunity to learn from our experiences.


Choi Sung-ho, Vice President, KOICA, in his address said that they are living in a Global Village where advancement in Computer and Information Technology is of prime importance for sustainable economic growth and development.


He said that this rapid growth is not possible without strong and visionary leadership, trust on our institutions, thriving innovation through public capacity building in ICT and cohesion among our nation which transformed Korea into worlds most innovative and digitalized nation.
