STAFF REPORT IBD: A Pakistani under-graduate computer science student has got prominence for securing a job at the worlds famous Microsoft Corporation.
Muhammad Abdur Rauf, a senior Computer Science student at the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) of LUMS, is set to join Microsoft as a Software Development Engineer.
Rauf was admitted to LUMS under the universitys National Outreach Programme (NOP), that provides educational opportunities to talented students, from smaller cities, villages and inner city areas of large urban centres, who are unable to meet the programmes regular fee requirement.
According to the LUMS website, “Rauf was admitted to NOP scholar in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, however, he later transferred to SSE. Besides excelling at CS courses, he is also working as a Research Associate at the Computer Science Department.”
Abdul Raufs job at Microsoft would require him to use his skills testing computer programmes and software for bugs.
It is to be mentioned here that Rauf has freelanced for some local and international companies and has experience in developing software applications for Android-powered devices.
