Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that Pakistan hunted to reach 4% of GDP through biotechnology exports and planned to cross $20 billion biotechnology exports in the next ten years.

Pakistan needs to boost biotechnology exports to $20 in next ten yearsHe told that “I have encouraged the companies of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to join hands with Pakistan in the field of biotechnology. We sent formal proposals to become partners in the field of biotechnology for expanding research and innovation in science and technology.

He informed UAE ambassador has shown interest in Pakistan’s offer to join hand in biotechnology projects so we have just waiting to complete our legalities.

biotechnology is the field that will capture international economy more than anything else. Such as extraction of herbal medicine is the area which is not explored properly in this part of the world.

Minister said “UAE and Saudi Arabia have their own herbs but the potential of their medicinal herbs has not been explored through proper research”. I would like to encourage both Saudi Arabia and UAE to start mutual projects with Pakistan on herbal medicines and similar areas.”

Government of Pakistan was plan to develop major innovations in agriculture i-e Hydroponic and precision agriculture are a huge area of interest for us so we are developing 150 acres plots of hydroponic agriculture in Pakistan.

Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia are the biggest importers of hydroponic agriculture and Pakistan would like to be part of this by exporting to these countries.

UAE’s space program is very advance so we are very intense to work closely with UAE to benefit from their experience of space mission.

Pakistan also wanted to sign an MoU next year with the first artificial intelligence (AI) university set up in the UAE. Pakistan has 11 centers of excellence in AI and I will request NUST to approach AI university in Abu Dhabi to work on joint projects.

Pakistan wished to work with Saudi Arabia to tackle the challenge of cyber security and benefit from its experience. Saudi Arabia has arranged international conferences to deal with cyber security challenges. I will discuss the issue with the ministry of information technology to participate in international conferences on cyber security arranged by Saudi Arabia in future.
