Pakistan will send its space mission by 2022
Pakistan is going to launch its first space mission in 2022 with the help of China. This announced by Federal Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry while addressing a press conference after the Federal Cabinet session addressed by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
An agreement has already signed between Pakistan Space and Upper and Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and a Chinese company.
This will be Pakistan’s first mission into space.
This announcement is made ahead of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s first visit to China to enhance and strengthen all weather strategic ties between Pakistan and China.
Last year, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman while addressing ‘AirTech’ 17 conference, had announced to send Pakistani astronauts into space with the collaboration of China by 2020.
Green Crescent will unfurl in space by 2022, while India is also planning their space mission to be sent by 2022.
In July this year, Pakistan launched its two satellites PRSS-1 and PAK-TES-1A with the collaboration of China. The satellites were launched from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Gobi desert on a Long March-2C rocket.
PRSS1 is a dual purpose Earth observational and optical satellite. It will be used for resources and survey of land, agricultural research, urban planning, and natural and human-induced disaster monitoring and relief operations. The PRSS1 was China’s 17th satellite sold overseas, developed by China Academy of Space Technology (CAST). PRSS1 is the first optical remote sensing satellite handed over to Pakistan.
While, PAK-TES-1A is indigenously developed by SUPARCO is to enhance satellite manufacturing capabilities at domestic level. This will help to end Pakistan’s dependence on commercial satellites for information related to agriculture, environment and weather.
Pakistani premier agency SUPARCO and Chinese company the China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) had signed an agreement in 2016 for the launch of a special remote sensing satellite in 2018.
