Pakistan and Uzbekistan consented to enhance bilateral cooperation. For their development under the agreement, both countries will share expertise in agriculture and livestock.

Furkat A Sidikov Uzbekistan Ambassador to Pakistan and Yousuf Zafar Chairman Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) has signed the agreement in a meeting recently.

The ambassador also visited the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC). For the development of agriculture ambassadors of both countries had detailed discussion on various avenues.

Areas of mutual interests discussed between two including agriculture, agro-machinery manufacturing, food processing, dry fruits, fresh fruits, cotton, milk and its by-products and leather. These sub-sectors can uplift the economy of Pakistan.

Zafar said that Pakistan’s economy relies on agriculture and same is the case with Uzbekistan. He further added that 45% labor force and 70% of gross domestic product (GDP) comes from the agriculture sector.

Zafar has asked for joint ventures for machinery manufacturing for a greater and cheaper mechanization of farm practices in Pakistan.

He also added that Pakistan needs an advanced equipment to increase its per-acre yield. Pakistan need help from Uzbekistan in this regard.

In view of Agricultural mechanized cultivation can double the yield. Uzbekistan’s agriculture machinery is far better quality than India and China and mechanized cultivation can double the yield in Pakistan added Zafar.
