Pakistani students to stay two years in UK after graduation

Pakistani students will soon be able to stay in the UK for 2 years after graduating to enhance their skills and experience in work said Thomas Drew said British High Commissioner to Pakistan.

Pakistani students to stay two years in UK after graduation“We are announcing plans for a new immigration route for international students to work in the UK for 2 years after graduation so we can appeal & retain the brightest and best talent” said Thomas.

This statement came after Britain’s government declared new post-Brexit immigration policies that allow international students to work in the country for two years after graduating.

Andrea Leadsom Business Secretary said that the change was meant to attract the brightest and the best from around the world” and a mark of “the UK’s ambition once we have left the European Union (EU)”.

“Instead of being open to free movement from just the EU, the United Kingdom will be able to take advantage of a global talent pool… and that’s something that’s a great advantage for us,” she told media.

Leadsom further said that government needs to increase the number of international students in Britain 30 percent to 600,000 by 2030, having emphasis on STEM education science, technology, engineering and math.

“There are so many new skills and new industries that are just now emerging, and we do want to be able to attract a global talent pool of people.” She further added.

Students who are studying currently make up half of all full-time post-graduate STEM students in the country. They will remain in Britain for up to four months after finishing their studies. The new rules now set to come into effect for those starting courses next year. In that two-year time period they will enable to find a job that befits their degree.

Students will just need to successfully accomplish a degree from a “trusted” British university or which has a confirmed track record in maintenance immigration checks and other rules, according to the government.
