MONITORING REPORT ABDU DHAB:The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA-UNO) will include Pakistan in its next years Annual Work Plan which would bring benefits to Pakistan in terms of training and capacity building of the renewable energy departments of the government of Pakistan and will also attract foreign investment in countrys renewable energy projects.
This was discussed in a recently held meeting between Pakistans Ambassador to the UAE, Jamil Ahmed Khan, and IRENA officials. Purpose of the meeting was to work out IRENAs Asia and Pacific plan in terms of finding out effective mechanism to collaborate with the regional countries in carrying out the need assessment and provide them with necessary policy advice and technological assistance.
Ambassador Khan apprised the delegation about the vast renewable energy potential of Pakistan and expressed desire of the government of Pakistan to enhance adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy including solar and wind energy.
He appreciated the role of IRENA in terms of devising mechanisms to help the world community achieve target of clean energy while maintaining the pace of economic growth.
Ambassador Jamil Ahmed Khan sought IRENAs assistance in linking up the world business community and the donors with renewable energy projects of Pakistan. He also invited IRENA to visit Pakistan and carry out Renewable Readiness Assessment (RRA) of the country.
