PARB funds 53 projects with Rs1billion

STAFF REPORT LHR: The Punjab Agricultural Research Board (PARB) has provided Rs I billion funds for 53 research projects on high priority under the Competitive Grant System during the last three years.
This was disclosed in the PARB Board meeting which examined the outcomes of the evaluation report of 13 randomly selected PARB funded projects and expressed satisfaction on the evaluation of these projects. The evaluation was conducted by a committee exclusively constituted by the Board comprising of third party experts. It was also said that these projects are now at the verge of commercialisation phase.
The Board also decided to give high priority to research projects targeting productivity enhancement of gram, development of quality vaccines against fatal livestock animal diseases and control of quick decline disease of Sheshum (Dilberjia sisso). To finalise projects on these high priority research areas, a committee comprising Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Vice Chancellor, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore and chief conservative officer, Forest Department was also constituted by the Board. The committee will submit its recommendations for approval from the Board in the light of evaluation of Technical Working Group (TWG) constituted on these projects.
The PARB Board is an important entity engaged in research planning, monitoring, co-ordination and commercialisation of projects.
