Drought has become a frequent phenomenon in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh due to the climate change and an increase in pollution. Keeping in line, the Pakistan Agriculture research Council (PARC) has signed an agreement with the Thar foundation to combat drought in Thar.

PARC & Thar Foundation agreement to combat drought in Thar

PARC and Thar Foundation signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed to grow plant life via hydroponics agriculture, lowering salinity and growing a multi-directional industrial value chains related to cattle.

That joint effort could facilitate farmers by growing cash crops, fruit timber, changed seeds and fodder through efficient and modern irrigation structures with self-reliance and improvement of nutritional impending inside Thar Coal Block-II.

Furthermore, it’s far-flung predicted that the partners can even espouse an analysis and pre-emptive remediation of land deprivation because of saline water in Thar Block II.

Moreover the PARC may even offer on-ground supervisors for bio-saline initiatives which have been initiated by means of the Thar foundation. This association will involve visits by senior research scientists from the PARC for survey of projects, advisory on the way to move ahead, plantation of new species and other technical subjects.

The agreement will combine efforts to appraise feasibility and sustainability of installing domestic biogas units modeled on the usage of animal waste as gas and fertilizer.

For the completion of this initiative the Thar foundation has supplied 20 acres of land at the side of the desired property which includes water and seeds procurement/saplings.

To combat drought the government has this opportunity to help the people before there is a major outbreak of disease. In order to do so, they have to to implement policies that will increase the population’s resilience and livelihood, and thus reduce their susceptibility to climate change.
