ISLAMABAD: YouTube channel and mobile application launched for weather forecasting throughout the country by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) for citizens.

Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Aviation Minister was invited as a chief guest at PMD. He inaugurated the IT Center at head-office of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Ghulam Sarwar introduced the application and appraised PMD, being equipped with latest technology and made more useful for the common people.

Ghulam Sarwar told about the purpose of introducing a mobile app along with the channel to keep the public up to date about the weather forecasting in the country.

Currently, weather updates will be provided from the mobile application and the PMD YouTube channel. Soon general public will get weather updates through audio-video messages on the mobile app. Hourly news bulletins would also be livestreamed on the PMD’s Youtube channel.

Weather conditions will be communicated publicly through newsletters, different social media platforms and the mobile app. The media department of the meteorological launched a new website besides restoring its media studio.

The Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Aviation Minister said, arrangements have been settled with the help of modern technology for updating the common man and farmers about weather conditions at district and tehsil level
