Press Release: Third Preston Entrepreneurial Challenge (PEC 15) was organized by Preston University at its Islamabad Campus. The high-profile annual event was spread over two days. PEC is organized with the specific objective to promote entrepreneurial culture particularly amongthe youth of the country. One Hundred and five (105) teams from 36 eminent public and private institutions of higher learning from across the country participated in at different levels of the competition. Thirty five (35) teams were shortlisted on the basis of Executive Summary for the Grand Finale, which was held with a futuristic vision of Iqbal “Sitaron se agay Jahan aur bhe hain.”


Preston Entrepreneurial Challenge (PEC) provided a platform to the young entrepreneurs where they presented their ideas and got them mentored by the domain experts. They also had the opportunity to meet the investors and get encouragement for them. PEC 15 constituted of sets of various events, including Elevator Pitch, Business Plan Competition, Junk Yard Activity, Business Quiz, E-Talk and Launch Pad. All these activities made Preston Entrepreneurial Challenge a unique competition.


Universities which were conspicuous by their presence at PEC 15 were Islamia University Bahawalpur, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Kinnaird College Lahore, Lahore College for Women University, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Peshawar, Karakorum University Gilgit, University of Turbat, Iqra University Karachi, Preston University Islamabad and others. Students from the participating universities presented their business plans pertaining different fields of business, which included Information Communication Technologies (ICT), Health, Environment Education, Livestock and Dairy, Agriculture, Energy, Food, Chemical, Mechanical, Engineering, Textile, Garments and Disaster Management.


Kinnaird College, Lahore secured first position and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 100,000/-. Islamia University, Bahawalpur stood second in the competition and it won a cash prize ofRs. 75,000/-. Cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- was awarded to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Peshawar for standing third. Winners were also awarded trophies by the chief guest Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed, founder of Pothohar Group and president Maroof International Hospital at the concluding ceremony. Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed congratulated the Preston University and its team that has been instrumental in successfully organizing PEC 15. He also congratulated the winning teams and respective universities. He emphasized on the occasion that Entrepreneurship holds the key to successful growth of the economy of Pakistan, and ensure a better tomorrow for the people of this country.

Organizations of repute joined hands as strategic partners with Preston University in the organization of PEC 15. Eminent among them were the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Islamabad, and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).
