STAFF REPORT ISB: The IT exports of Pakistan require a significant uplift in order to suffice the needs and impact on national exchequer. These views were expressed by Federal State Minister for Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT), Anusha Rahman while chairing 30th meeting of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).

Anusha Rahman said, “IT industry must be nourished in Pakistan in order to gain maximum results from the potential. PSEB is the apex body on software exports and is required to boost the IT exports to $6 billion till 2010”. The MoIT is committed to promote IT sector and will support PSEB for attaining the objectives of the industrial uplifting.

The Minister also highlighted that reporting of IT companies are required to be substantially improved because the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) figures show extremely low IT exports than the original exports and hence hurts perception of IT industry.

Senior officials of PSEB and corporate sector were also present on the occasion that gave valuable input and suggestions for overall betterment of IT infrastructure and identified the areas where improvement can be made in order to meet the target of IT exports like marketing of IT startups and counselling of nascent tech entrepreneurs.
