STAFF REPORT ISB: Since the launch of 3G and 4G services in Pakistan, wireless internet on wireless devices is all about telecom operator but the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is taking vigorous steps to change that by bringing the most advanced wireless internet option to the country very soon.

PTCL is set launch a new service that will offer internet speed up to 36Mbps in a week or so.

According to an official, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will award licences to 3G and 4G operators – Ufone, Mobilink, Telenor and Zong, most probably this week.

For now the project has been code named by PTCL as Charji within the company.

Though there is no official confirmation about this news, yet PTCL might launch this new Charji in an EVO-like WiFi dongle device.

According to insiders, this latest service will be offered against Rs 3000/month but the charges would vary as per the data usage.

There is no official announcement, yet according to sources, Charji might hit the market within this month.

As per PTCLs WLL spectrum, PTCL can provide download speed of 36Mbps and 7Mbps for uploads. Charji is actually utilising aforementioned speed limit.
