STAFF REPORT LHR: A meeting to review the progress on ongoing energy projects in Punjab was recently held in Lahore. Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired the meeting.


CM Punjab said while speaking to the participants that speedy work is being done on 900-MW solar project at Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park, Bahawalpur and 100 MW has been already added to grid. He also said that 1200MW electricity will be generated through LNG. Furthermore, another project in salt range is underway that will produce 300MW electricity from coal.


The Chief Minister said a project is being executed at Salt Range to generate 300 MW electricity from local coal. He also pointed out the potential of producing electricity from wind in Punjab. He said that four points with high wind intensity have been selected to set up wind power plants. He also stressed that apart from energy production there is also a need to conserve the energy and government was taking measures to improve energy conservation in the province.
