Qatar Charity implemented 1,079 water related projects in Pakistan

QC is an international non-profit and non-governmental humanitarian organization founded in 1980. In early 1992 QC was introduced to the humanitarian scene in Pakistan.

According to the report projects of QC has benefited 200,000 plus people in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan.

QC projects implemented at a cost of QR6mn counted in which drilling of 859 artesian wells equipped with a hand pump, 149 artesian wells equipped with an electric pump and two bathrooms, as well as 71 deep artesian wells equipped with an electric pump.

Under these water projects, QC constructed 220 toilets with sinks for ablution to improve sanitation conditions and minimizing the risk of diseases.

As per Amin Issa, Director of the Qatar Charity in Pakistan, said that Pakistan is at risk to threats like natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. According to local and international assessments that there is need for water and sanitation in emergencies because immediate and long-term health risks are developed due to displacement of massive population.

Issa highlighted that QC role towards water and sanitation sector is of key importance. They have implemented these projects only for providing an easy access to drinking water, improve the health conditions of communities, and reduce the spread of epidemics and diseases especially in poor areas suffering from disasters.

QC also immediately responded to disasters rapidly as their field offices are in Pakistan and Kashmir. They implemented many projects as a humanitarian response in collaboration with UN organizations such as Unicef, World Food Programme, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
