Rainmaker Worldwide Inc. has partnered with Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) a national non-profit organization headquartered in Islamabad, Pakistan to bring safe drinking water to thirsty and disregarded communities in the deprived areas of Pakistan.
SPO has named areas in Sind like Tharparkar, Sujawal, Thatta, Badin, Malir, Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, and the area of Abbottabad namely Dubran, Kholrian, Bandi Phulan and Bhattian to pilot the technology. For discussions with Rainmaker a new potential site in Gwadar, Balochistan, is also included.
SPO will facilitate the identification of National and International organizations to participate in this program as per the terms of this agreement. First implementations and fresh water delivery would take place Q3, 2018 based on the current projections.
Both Water-to-Water and Air-to-Water units selected for implementation after field studies by Rainmaker and SPO. Each Water-to-Water machine will provide up to 150,000 liters of drinking water per day, while each Air-to-Water machine will deliver up to 20,000 liters per day.
Both machines will be powered by a combination of wind and solar. The machines will provide the most energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions for delivering affordable water.
Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has warned that Pakistan by 2025 will face severe water stress if the government does not pay attention to this issue. Severe water scarcity is already affecting negatively on public health and the economy of Pakistan.
