STAFF REPORT ISB: Rangeland resources of Pakistan are depleting due to overgrazing, cutting of trees, soil erosion, climate change and mismanagement, which is a point of major concern as this huge resource support millions of livestock throughout the county which contribute to food security, nutrition and livelihood of the poor.

“There is an immediate need to formulate a unified rangeland policy both at national and provincial level for effective management of rangeland resources of Pakistan,” said Federal Minister for Food Security Sikandar Hayat Bosan while addressing a symposium on Rangeland Resources of Pakistan organized by UN FAO and PARC.

Patrick Evans, FAO representative in Pakistan, Chairman PARC Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, representatives of Agricultural Departments of all the provinces and agricultural scientists were also present on the occasion.
