Meeting of Sectoral Technical Committee (STC) of South Asian Regional Standards Organization (SARSO) on Electrical, Electronics, Telecom and IT hosted by Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) in Karachi.

“SAARC’s specialized body SARSO having decree to develop SAARC Standards product, process, and services to minimize technical barriers and enhance intra-regional trade among the SAARC countries”, said Muhammad Khalid Saddiq Director General PSQAC while inaugurating the ceremony. He welcomes foreign delegation and briefed them about the role played by SARSO in synchronization of National Standards of SAARC among the Member states. SARSO can enhance Quality infrastructure in SAARC countries by playing more effective role at its part.

Engr. Gulzar Memon of Pakistan was picked for three years as the Chairman of STC on Electrical Electronics, Telecom, and IT. Secretary to STC on Electrical, Electronics, Telecom, and IT Mr. Tashi Wangchuk, informed the meeting about progress and as it was the first meeting he has also highlighted the core decisions of the Governing Board of SARSO.

The SAARC Standards if adopted by Member States it will surely help them in improving trade of electrical products among SAARC Member States. Technical representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and representatives from SARSO Secretariat, Dhaka has attended the meeting.
