STAFF REPORT ISB: The QS global university rankings are out and pleasantly 6 Pakistani universities were featured among the best 800 universities of the world.


A tally of 3,551 universities worldwide was considered for evaluation; the finalists included 894 universities with Pakistani top universities ranging to the ranks in between 500 to 800. The universities included National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, University of Karachi (UoK), and University of Lahore (UOL).


Another important statistics reveals that 8 Pakistani universities were included in top 300 Asian universities. Those included Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) Islamabad, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, Aga Khan University Karachi, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad, University of The Punjab Lahore – Rank, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET), University of Karachi.


The quality of higher education uplifting in Pakistan surely has Higher Education Commission (HEC) as the prime contributor. The rankings are improving each year and indicating that the education policies and efforts of HEC are in right direction.
