STAFF REPORT FAISALABAD: The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) has decided to distribute free of cost wheat seed to 23,838 growers in the province. The Punjab government has allocated an amount of Rs 300 million for this programme. The balloting method will be adapted to enlist the growers who will be provided with the wheat seeds.

STAFF REPORT ISB: PARC has released four new rust resistant wheat varieties including a bio-fortified variety having 50 percent zinc contents. STAFF REPORT FSD: Vice Chancellor of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF), Prof. (Dr) Iqrar Ahmad Khan, has said that as many as 6.8 million hectares of land in the country is under the grip of salinity, raising the threat of food insecurity. However, the land could be cultivated by sowing climate and saline resistant crops to increase the production and to alleviate poverty, he added.
